Ohms Reading Passat B3 Tank Sender Unit
« Gepost op: 06 januari, 2012, 09:01 »
Could any of you good people tell me the ohms readings on a B3 petrol tank sender unit on empty and full as I need to get a custom gauge made up and need these readings.

Many thanks in advance

I have had a  search and I came out with  10to 180 ohms but this is only a guess working out from other units Ive seen on the net, also thought about going down my local VW steelership and see if they can tell me

I'll be back home late afternoon. Maybe I can come up with an answer. Don't have my archive in the cloud (yet)

Thanks for your replies
Went down my local junk yard as they had a Passat there but it had gone. Did find a 16 valve Corrado so I took the sender out of the lift pump on that as the Carrodo uses the same fuel gauge. Got no way of measuring it but I'm hoping the company who are going to make the new gauge up will be able to do that for me.

In the mean time if anyone comes up with the answer please let me know

The Ohms reading of the Passat B3/B4 tank-sender unit is the same like one of a VW Goff Mk4 iirc but the actual values are unknown to me at this moment. I searched the whole morning with no results at all. Not even the Polish or Russian/Ukrainian documentation I have don't mention these values at all. Dutch and German documentation gave no results too

The only thing you could do is to remove your own tank-sender unit and measure it's Ohm readings and compare those with the readings of the Corrado 16v unit. My best guess is they're all the same like it goes for the Golf Mk4 unit.

Hope this helps a bit.

Thanks for your time  I  have spent much time searching and come up with nothing. I reckon the Corrado one will be the same as they both share the same fuel gauge

Sent the Corrado sender unit off with the Volvo speedo and got a letter back saying they could not get a reading of it  so back to square one. Even went to my local VW dealer and asked them if they knew what the ohms were and they did not have a clue, wonder if I can ask VDO?
